A group tour is often enough
If your goal is to see the escalators, murals, viewpoints, and hear a standard introduction, a well-run group tour can be excellent value. You will have a fixed meeting time, a shared pace, and a set route, but the core experience is accessible without building a private day around it.
What private changes
Private touring becomes useful when your group wants a different pace, needs easier walking, wants more time for photography, or wants to combine Comuna 13 with another part of Medellín without reassembling around a group schedule.
It also lets the day change afterward. If everyone is energized, continue to another stop. If the hills and heat were enough, switch to a scenic or food-focused finish.
Do not treat the neighborhood as a photo set
The murals and escalators are visually striking, but the meaningful part is the story of the neighborhood and its transformation. Give yourself enough time to listen, not just enough time to collect photos.
What pairs well with Comuna 13
On a four-hour booking, pair it with one lighter city stop. On an eight-hour booking, you have room for lunch and a second substantial area such as Centro, Botero, or a museum, depending on the day and your interests.
Private does not have to mean rigid
Our Comuna 13 Route Card is a starting point, not a compulsory route. The price follows the four- or eight-hour city block, so choosing street art over museums does not create a different tour price.
Bottom line
The best private day is not the one with the longest attraction list. It is the one where the route, pace, vehicle and time block match the people actually traveling. If you already know your date and group size, use the planner below and we can turn these ideas into a Route Card.
Our city half day is 4 hours from $250 for 1–2 guests, and the full day is 8 hours from $400. Larger-group pricing reflects the larger vehicle required.
