Start with the unit you are actually buying
A private day is easiest to understand when the base price covers a block of time, a vehicle sized for the group, a professional driver, and a host. The theme should not change the base price. A museum morning and a Comuna 13 morning still use the same vehicle and the same four-hour clock.
Marketplace listings often show a low “from” number that changes when you select the date and party size. That is not wrong, but it makes direct comparisons harder. Ask what the final price is for your actual group, how long the day lasts, and what the price excludes.
Our current direct group pricing
For Private Tours Medellín, the public starting point is simple: a four-hour Medellín half day is $250 for 1–2 guests, an eight-hour Medellín day is $400 for 1–2 guests, a private coffee experience starts at $300, and a Guatapé day starts at $500. Larger groups cost more because they require a larger vehicle.
That means a couple on the eight-hour city day is effectively paying $200 each. Three or more guests move into the larger-vehicle tier rather than being squeezed into a small car.
What is normally separate
Admissions, meals, optional boat rides, tips, and other third-party costs stay separate. We prefer that because you can see the real cost of each stop and decide whether it is worth your time and money instead of paying for inclusions you may not use.
For attractions with changing prices or schedules, check the current official information before the day. The Route Card can flag likely extra-cost stops, but the institution controls the final price.
How to compare two private tours
Compare the final group price, not the teaser price. Then compare the number of hours, whether hotel or Airbnb pickup is included, whether the vehicle is private to your group, whether the host stays with you, and how flexible the itinerary actually is.
A cheaper driver-only service can be exactly what you need if transportation is the only problem you are trying to solve. A hosted day costs more because the service includes planning, context, pacing, and someone whose job is to keep the day coherent.
When the private option makes the most sense
Private touring becomes especially compelling for couples, families, friends traveling together, guests with a tight schedule, and anyone who values control over pace. It is less compelling for a solo traveler whose main goal is simply to see the headline attractions as cheaply as possible.
If you are deciding between four and eight hours, read our four-hour and eight-hour itinerary guides before booking.
Bottom line
The best private day is not the one with the longest attraction list. It is the one where the route, pace, vehicle and time block match the people actually traveling. If you already know your date and group size, use the planner below and we can turn these ideas into a Route Card.
Our city half day is 4 hours from $250 for 1–2 guests, and the full day is 8 hours from $400. Larger-group pricing reflects the larger vehicle required.
