The road is part of the day
A Guatapé booking needs to be treated as a road day, not a city tour with an extra stop. Leaving Medellín, reaching the reservoir area, moving between stops, eating, and returning all consume real time. That is why our Guatapé block is 9–10 hours.
El Peñol is optional, not mandatory
The rock is iconic, but the climb is not right for every traveler. Guests who dislike stairs, are traveling with older relatives, or simply prefer views without the climb can spend that time in the town, on the water, over lunch, or at another scenic stop.
Guatapé town deserves time
The colorful streets are much better when you can wander without watching a bus departure clock. If photography, architecture, cafés, or simply being in the town matters to you, protect that time rather than cramming it between the rock and a boat departure.
Boat or no boat?
A boat can be a great way to understand the scale of the reservoir and break up a day spent on roads and streets. It is an optional third-party extra, not something everyone should be forced to buy.
Our private Guatapé price
Our private Guatapé day starts at $500 for 1–2 guests and from $575 for larger groups. The base price covers the private round-trip vehicle, professional driver, host, and the booked time. Rock admission, meals, boat rides, tips, and other optional extras are separate.
Bottom line
The best private day is not the one with the longest attraction list. It is the one where the route, pace, vehicle and time block match the people actually traveling. If you already know your date and group size, use the planner below and we can turn these ideas into a Route Card.
Our city half day is 4 hours from $250 for 1–2 guests, and the full day is 8 hours from $400. Larger-group pricing reflects the larger vehicle required.
